  • Fagus sylvatica Atropunicea, known as Copper Beech, is a striking deciduous trees, often used in parklands and estates. It is a fast growing species and can reach heights of 30m+ if given the correct conditions, but can be pruned to a desired height if planted in a smaller space. Copper Beech prefers full sun and whilst it must be in soil which offers good drainage, prolonged periods of drought can be quite detrimental. Ensure that the tree is well watered, particularly in the first two years after planting. This beech variety has an eye-catching greyish bark, which offers contrast to foliage throughout the seasons. In spring, leaves appear in a deep purple, which fade throughout the summer. By autumn, glorious shades of orange and yellow are present and these leaves only begin to drop once winter is well and truly underway. For more varieties, please browse our full range of Large Trees.
