Digitalis Purpurea Mixed are biennial woodland flowers that produce large spires that are covered with bell-like flowerheads in vivid shades of pinks, whites, and dark magentas. Digitalis are also highly attractive to pollinators like bees and butterflies. They'll thrive in a shady spot too, which is helpful for smaller gardens. Sow seeds inside from Apr-Jul or outside from Apr-May/Sep-Nov.

Sow undercover from March to May or sow directly outdoors in May to June or September to October. Sow under cover in well-drained compost, covering the seeds lightly with a thin layer of compost. When planting directly outside, scatter the seeds for that natural effect in the flower bed. Germination usually takes 10-21 days when kept warm. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into larger pots and keep them somewhere cool. Finally, plant them outside, spaced 30cm apart in a sunny spot or in partial shade.
